Chamberlain, South Dakota - on the Missouri River

Chamberlain is a nice little town, with emphasis on little. The state map lists every town in South Dakota, even those that have as little as three people. The downtown of Chamberlain consists of about one block that looks like it still is stuck in a time warp of the 1960's. We had our buffalo burgers in a small restaurant "downtown" that looked very much like a old fashioned diner. I liked the buffalo burger and the town of Chamberlain very much. Took the attached photos late in the day. The old, worn bridge shown was like the town itself. It had a 30 mph speed limit, 10 mph for trucks, and its heavily patched surface made me follow that limit carefully.
The river shown in the photos is the Missouri. It is wider than expected here because of a series of dams on it in South Dakota that make it a good source for boating recreation and hydroelectric power. I thought the cliffs on the east side of the river looked good in the evening light.

The sunset was magnificent and worth waiting for and better than I could capture in the photo.
